Melanie Martinez is Innocent.

Hello! if you're reading this i just want to say i've made a much simpler carrd focused purely on Timothy Heller, if interested, please spread this link:

Her songs and metaphors

Here i will talk about some of her most controversial songs and their meanings.

  • Tag You're It

  • Crybaby

  • Pacify Her

  • Training Wheels

Tag You're It

Tag you're it is by far one of her most controversial songs along with Mad Hatter, as it tackles sexual abuse and kidnapping. The main point of the song is basically a huge "Stranger Danger" warning, Crybaby is shown as a very trusting and naive person (Seen as she believes someone who is clearly a "wolf"The song does not glorify it's topics but instead it's used to bring awareness to it, it shows how anyone around you can be a "wolf" and how we need to be careful with who we trust. The song also mentions stalker behavior and how horrible it is.

Crybaby

Although the song itself is not really controversial, the visuals are considered so by many. The music video shows the birth of her character and how she had to live a hard life ever since she was a small kid.It is often as an example of her "sexualizing children" even though nowhere in it's visuals is her character shown in a sexual manner.Considering she is still a baby in the song, she is of course going to be dressed as one.

Pacify her

Pacify Her is a song that talks about female rivalry and how women will often fight for a man's attentionThe lyrics talk about Crybaby telling a boy to "pacify" his girlfriend, and although she is in the wrong in the scenario, so is the boy for playing along. His girlfriend "Basic Bitch" is shown as the girl who puts the fault solely on Crybaby instead of blaming both her and her boyfriend. In the visuals the girl is shown flashing herself to blue boy to "win his heart", although it can be taken as her sexualizing kids, the point is to show how girls will go through great lenghts to please someone who clearly won't reciprocate the same feelings.

Training Wheels

Training Wheels is another song where Melanie "sexualizes" kids, the main reason people think that is due to the lyrics "fully undressed, no training wheels left for you"But in fact, the lyrics are not meant to be taken literally, as it's a metaphor to letting go of your fears of being serious in a relationship, which is the main point of the song. The song itself talks about both parties being scared to "up" their relationship and becoming more serious, the lyrics are a metaphor to them taking baby steps in doing so.It talks about the ups and downs in a relationship and everything that comes with it.

Statement from melanie herself:

This thread on twitter goes into full detail about all her songs and metaphors in a way better way than I did! please consider taking a look here

Her character

In her songs, Melanie portrays a character called "Crybaby", which is a fictional character she uses to tell a story, although she has said she relates deeply to her, she made clear "Melanie" and "Crybaby" are two separate people with separate lives.Crybaby is used to tell a story of a character who has to deal with traumatizing events while growing up (Abusive household, Kidnapping, Bullying, Being taken advantage of, and so on.)Crybaby is nothing more than a fictional character Melanie created to tell a story.

This section will be divided into separate points

  • Timothy's story and it's holes

  • Melanie's statement

  • How timothy responded to it and dealt with it

  • Globelamp and the leaked text messages

Timothy's Story

On December 4th 2017, Timothy heller, Melanie's former best friend released a statement claiming she was raped and mistreated.

In her original statement, Timothy claims Melanie had pressured and begged to touch her, and that she eventually gave in, but later on in a interview she claimed they had bought a sex game, a important detail she chose to leave out of her original statement. Also worth noting Timothy herself has stated the sex game was her idea.Timothy also had originally mentioned Melanie had tried contacting her right after the allegations were put out, but, in an interview, claimed Melanie had never tried to contact her.Timothy claimed the rape happened on the 25th of June, but at the time Melanie was on tour going back home to LA, so there was no way it could've happened on that day.

When questioned about this, Heller showed this picture as "proof".

Notice how not only is her hair color different, Melanie is also on the "receiving" end of the game (Seeing as she is handcuffed and blindfolded) and the outfit she is wearing is from May 2015, a whole month before Timothy claimed the situation happened.Heller also claimed that her icloud was "messed up" when said picture was shown to have been taken in may.

Another thing although not directly related to her statement, is that Timothy had her newest single at the time "Sleep" pinned to her profile, which meant anyone who opened her account would've seen it as the first thing, just a little detail i also thought was quite...coincidental.This video goes into full detail of the situation:

Melanie's Statement

On December 5th 2017, Melanie released the following statement:

Something that immediately got people jumping at her throat again was her saying "She never said no to what we chose to do together", which was mistook as her saying "she never said no", a common phrase used among rapists, but it's actually the opposite! What she meant is that everything they did was fully consensual, but due to the horrible wording, it was taken in the opposite way.Melanie also released another statement later on:

Her statement will often be taken out of context to be used against her, as Melanie has said herself, she would never do something without their absolute consent, so no, she has never admitted to raping Timothy.Melanie also had released a final statement with the song "Piggyback", where she talked about how tired she was of being used and of playing "piggyback"

Timothy's response and actions

Timothy had quite a few shady moments during this dilemma, like shading Atlantic Records for "still having her rapist signed", reposting some cropped fanart and even going on live multiple times to talk about it, even though she said she hated bringing it up or even mentioning melanie.

Timothy also supports Amy Schumer, a woman who admitted to raping a man.Timothy had also mentioned that their friendship had ended in 2015, but in 2016 she was dressing up as Melanie and according to a curious cat, her and Melanie were still friends in 2017, the same year the allegations came out.Another thing i'd like to point out is how timothy had referred to her abuser as "he/him"

Globelamp

Globelamp, a former friend of Timothy, leaked text messages showing how obsessed she was with Melanie and how manipulative she was towards her.It also proved how she had also lied about "hating to bring Melanie up and how it triggered her"

On the video above, Globe says how Timothy talked about how Melanie tried to contact her, but she choose to ignore it and post the allegations because she thought it was "funny".

Sexualization of children

Melanie is often accused of "sexualizing children", but none of her songs ever portray children in a sexual manner. Her style of clothing and such is something she only uses in her music videos and such, her aesthetic is to tell a story.A few pictures of Melanie wearing a pacifier have also resurfaced, but believe it or not, they were considered a fashion trend for some time.Melanie vs Crybaby

Another artist using a pacifier as a accessory

And on her newest album "K-12", Crybaby is shown as a way more grown and mature person, which proves she isn't sticking to a "baby theme" forever

So in short, no, Melanie does not sexualize kids, nothing that she does is sexual, if you find her sexy, then the problem is within you.

Glorification of mental illnesses and more

Melanie is also accused of glorifying mental illnesses and using them as an "aesthetic"People will often use her song "Mad Hatter" as an example, but the song is nothing more than a reference to "Alice in Wonderland" thus the name. She is also called "ableist" for having lyrics such as "You think i'm psycho, you think i'm gone, tell the psychiatrist if something is wrong".But the line is nothing more than her poking fun at those who called her "crazy" and "weird", she is telling people that if there's something wrong then THEY should be the ones telling a psychiatrist.Another thing people like to use against her is her "crazy face", but i doubt that she uses it to pretend to be "insane", but more so she uses it because she knows it unsettles people, like in her crybaby perfume milk commercial, where the entire video has a off putting and unsettling vibe, and in Mad Hatter it is used to add on top of the already over the top visuals.

Posting "CP" on her tumblr

Let me go straight to the point, no. melanie did not post child porn on her tumblrthe so called "cp" is a edited gif of one of the actress from icarly toplessfirst things first, according to google she was 18 when the episode aired, which was in 2010.

second, i literally found the same gif used by looking up "icarly dress fight episode"third, do you really think melanie would know how old she was in 2010?? you guys are acting as if she went out of her way to find this exact gif due to the fact she was "underage" in it (which she wasn't)and not to mention the gif was literally posted by another tumblr user

the caption "for obvious reasons" is her probably talking about the fact the episode was centered around pageants and knowing how much mel loves dressing up.she didn't get it from a "shady cp website" or whatever, stop trying to cancel her over dumb shitand PS: melanie was literally like 14-15 when it aired.another thing i'd like to add, if it was actually "cp" don't you think tumblr would've taken it down by now? especially considering how rigid their rules are at current time.
